Primero fue convento jesuita
conocido como Colegio de San Javier (1751).
Posteriormente
en 1840 se inició, bajo el proyecto del arquitecto José Manzo y Jaramillo, lo
que se le conocería como la cárcel de la ciudad de Puebla. Denota las
características de los edificios penitenciarios de la época, tomado como modelo
del presidio de Cincinnati. Desde 1985 el lugar fue acondicionado como
Instituto Cultural Poblano, albergando el archivo del Estado, club culturales, entre
otras actividades.
This place was Jesuit, it was knowed with the name of “Colegio de San Javier” (1751).Later in 1840 the architect Jose Manzo y Jaramillo started the project to build the prison in the city of Puebla. Denotes the characteristics of the prison buildings of the time, modeled like the jail of Cincinnati. Since 1985 the place was conditioned for housing the State Archives, cultural club, among other activities, named as “Poblano Cultural Institute”.
